Simplify the Way You Calculate Your Zakat

Giving Zakat is more than just a charitable act; it’s a form of worship, a purification of one’s wealth, and a way to bring balance and compassion into society. Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Qur’an:

Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke blessings upon them.”

(Surah At-Tawbah 9:103)

For many people, calculating Zakat can feel overwhelming. At CLF (Community Lighthouse Foundation), we’ve created an easy-to-use online Zakat calculator to help you fulfil this pillar of faith with confidence and clarity.

How to Use the CLF Zakat Calculator?

Our UK Zakat calculator breaks your wealth into two simple sections:

  • Zakatable assets – gold, silver, cash, savings, business stock, investments, or pensions funded from your own money
  • Deductible liabilities – debts, unpaid bills, or other immediate financial commitments

After entering your figures, the calculator automatically determines your net assets and checks whether they meet the Nisab threshold – the minimum wealth required before Zakat becomes due.

With just a few clicks, you can know exactly how much you owe, ensuring that your Zakat is both accurate and sincere.

Current Nisab Values

As of now:

  • Silver: 612.36 g = £330.11
  • Gold: 87.48 g = £3,911.74

If your total assets equal or exceed either Nisab value, Zakat is obligatory. Our Zakat Calculator 2026 will continue to reflect updated Nisab rates each year, so your calculation always stays current.

When Is Zakat Due?

Zakat becomes due once every lunar year after your wealth has reached the Nisab level. You can mark your Zakat date on the Islamic calendar. For example, during Ramadan, use our Zakat calculator to review it annually.

The Prophet (S.A.W) said:

Charity does not decrease wealth.”

(Sahih Muslim 2588)

Giving Zakat regularly not only benefits others but it blesses and increases your own sustenance in ways you may not expect.

What Do You Pay Zakat On?

Many people ask, what do you pay Zakat on? The answer is simple: you pay Zakat on wealth that remains with you for a full lunar year, such as:

  • Gold and silver
  • Cash at home or in bank accounts
  • Savings and investments
  • Business goods and profits
  • Loans you’ve given that are likely to be repaid

You do not pay Zakat on personal items such as your home, car, or everyday essentials.

How Do You Pay Zakat?

Once your Zakat is calculated, you can easily pay it online through CLF’s secure donation platform. Before giving, make your niyyah (intention) that this amount is your obligatory Zakat – an important step for your act of worship to be accepted.

If you’ve ever wondered how do you pay Zakat correctly, know that it’s about sincerity and purpose, giving what is due, from what Allah has blessed you with, to those most in need.

Your Zakat through CLF supports essential community projects like providing food, education, healthcare, and sustainable aid to vulnerable families locally and globally.

Zakat al-Fitr Calculator

Zakat al-Fitr is another beautiful act of giving, offered before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan. It ensures that every person in the community can celebrate Eid with dignity and joy.

Use CLF’s Zakat al-Fitr calculator to determine the correct amount per family member and make your contribution easily online.
